I offer more than 10 years' experience with manuscript critique and coaching, with a number of my clients completing book projects and publishing on their own or with a publishing house. You may come with a completed first draft, or a partial draft (because you're feeling stuck and want another point of view), or an early draft we can use to discuss possibilities for what might come next.

I do this work thoroughly, with great consideration primarily for the higher-level view, but I also offer more granular feedback, if desired, including line-editing and copyediting. I hold an MFA in creative writing from the University of Houston (my focus was fiction), and I have years' of experience writing about books and other topics for journalistic outlets like The Dallas Morning News, The Texas Observer, and Yes! magazine.

My goal is to help you see what's shining most in your manuscript, and where you might focus your energy in your next revision. I want you to feel motivated and invigorated by the work you've created, and excited to keep crafting so that your work can move to the next stop on its journey.

All manuscript consultations come with a 90-minute debrief Zoom session. You will also receive your manuscript with my comments and questions throughout, as well as line- and copyedits, if you request them.

I enjoy this work, but it is time-consuming, and it requires deep attention and care. This is why I charge $100 an hour for my time and only take a limited number of projects — only those I feel connected to. I can offer sliding scale pricing if we are a good fit, and we can discuss that if needed.

Before we work together, I will review 10 pages of your manuscript and return it to you with my comments. We'll also meet for 30 minutes to discuss my overall impressions based on your sample. I'll also provide an estimate for your consideration, based on the time it took me to review your sample and my hourly rate. Submitting this form does not guarantee that your sample will be reviewed.
