The Playground
Three days set aside — just for you — to turn down the chaos of the world…
So you can tune in to your magic and creativity.
Friday - Sunday, April 11 - 13
At The Workshop
300 Allen St. in East Austin
✨ Come as you are, Creative Spirits! ✨
Come worried, beleaguered, frustrated at the state of the world…
Bring your creative sparkle — it’s still burning!
Bring your belief in magic — it’s still flickering!
Bring your desire to create, explore, unearth the hidden connections…
and plant some magical seeds.
🌱 🌱 🌱
If you’re like me, you could use some time to play (remember what that is?!)…
You would love a whole day built around art, rest, exploration, and discovery…
You would also LOVE some time with your Tarot cards… and journal…
time to reflect, peel back a few layers, and really notice what’s been unfolding for you.
(Because that’s where the magic is… in the deep looking and listening.)
It wouldn’t hurt to have some 👯 interesting, creative, low-key witchy playmates either!
If you could use a little escape from adulting, headlines, and deadlines,
you’ll find the perfect playdate at THE PLAYGROUND…
3 days in a spacious, fully-stocked creative workshop (more on that below!).
But if you’re too busy for 3 days, you can come for 1 or 2! Or sign up for a single activity.
At the Playground you’ll enjoy…
✨ Guided creative experimentation ✨
✨ Practices for intuitive connection ✨
✨ Soul-searching through art-making ✨
✨ Community with kindred creative / mystical-types like you ✨
Join us on The Playground, and I promise you’ll leave with a clearer vision of where you want to steer yourself next, a deeper sense of what truly matters to you in these wild times, and more insight into how you want to move forward, especially in a world that’s becoming more unpredictable by the day. 🎢
It’s gonna be deep!
But also light, fun, transformative,
and super friendly!
Whether you come for one, two, or three days…
You’ll head home knowing you planted some magical seeds at The Playground,
which will grow and manifest in your regular-degular (but also magical) life!
(Seriously: If you experience zero magic 6 months from now, I’ll refund your admission!)
Will you come out and play?!
The Playground is for you…
☺️ If you’re a Creative Spirit at heart, meaning: you want to be creative, you’ve been through multiple creative phases, and you have creative callings — but you don’t get to live your creative dreams as much as you’d like. (And you're overdue for a little escape, a weekend away with one of your true loves!)
🧐 If you’ve been riding the Productivity Bus with your creativity lately, trying to finish a big project or collaboration, and you’d love some creative time with less pressure, total freedom, and no deadlines, timelines, pushing, or pressure.
😒 If you’ve been too busy, exhausted, or stressed to channel your time or energy toward creativity and magic, and you miss it. You’re also not sure where to begin when you pick it back up, and you could really use a day or three to reconnect with your Creative Self and see what’s possible.
🤩 If you’re a little to very familiar with Tarot — or, heck, just a curious beginner — and you’d like to refresh, expand, and reconnect with your practice, or just learn more about how Tarot can support your creativity and magic.
🤗 If you’re seeking interesting, unique experiences to help you connect with your intuition and draw out the wisdom you’ve gathered over the last few seasons of life. You know it’s important to give yourself space and time to tune in, reflect, and dream.
Our time together will be structured and spacious.
Each day is designed around a planetary theme, with guided activities for morning and afternoon. With time for pulling cards, journaling, and chatting with your playmates.
You’ll be surprised and enchanted by the creative and magical work we do!
You’ll also leave with practical, actionable plans, ideas, and intentions to make the magic happen after you return home.

Enjoy a guided meditation & Tarot card pull exploring your personal visions of beauty & being.
We’ll then creatively interpret these visions through 3D sand-tray assemblage, drawing from the hundreds of fascinating objects in The Workshop’s collection. This is a practice meant to help you connect with your intuition and practice self-expression through tactile artistic play.
4-5pm — Tea Time, Journaling & Integration
If folks are interested, perhaps we’ll venture to Casa de Luz for an early dinner, followed by an evening swim at Barton Springs Pool. We’ll see how everyone’s feeling, and who’s up for it.
Saturday, April 12

9:30 — Arrival & Settling In

Pull a card from the Our Tarot deck to connect with a femme activist / artist from history.
Create a prayer candle in honor of your iconic activist guide. (Supplies provided!)
Followed by community conversation & exploration on living our values in politically fraught times.
(Activism here = direct action, art making, building community & more!)
12:30-1:30pm — Lunch Break
2-4pm — Enacting, Supporting & Sustaining Creative Visions w/ Cecily
A guided exploration to clarify creative & personal visions & aspirations…
With time & attention toward boundaries, practices, and personal principles that support your work ahead, whether that’s artistic, related to your career or business, or rooted in collaboration.
We’ll pull cards, journal, map & discuss the frameworks needed to bring our visions to life.
4-5pm — Free Time
Continue your planning work, brew some tea & chat with a new friend, enjoy the space while you work on other projects, catch up on emails, or make some art!
sunday, April 13
The sun’s Day (+ Full moon in libra!): celebrating & shining
9:30 — Arrival & Settling In
10am-12pm — Self Portraits & Personal Archetypes w/ Cecily
We’ll create weird, wild, gorgeous portraits of ourselves as archetypal figures.
You’ll select a photo of yourself that reflects your beauty, power, joy, radiance, playfulness, aspirations — you get to choose, or assemble, collage, draw, or paint a self-portrait! We’ll craft these portraits as images reminiscent of Tarot cards, creating visual spells for our BE-coming. Art supplies provided!
12:30-1:30pm — Lunch Break
2-3:30pm — Free Time
Work on a writing or artistic project, continue visioning with sand tray play, take a little field trip, journal, pull cards, or swap skills with a fellow Playgrounder.
3:30-5pm — Shine & Swagger
You’ll be guided through creative prompts and a Tarot spread to help you connect with your Future Self and draw that “future wisdom” into the present. Through this creative process, and a little bit of sharing, we’ll activate these powerful timelines and help you step into your next becoming. Plus you’ll have a new work of art to take with you.
Your Guides
Cecily Sailer — creator of The Playground + your host & guide for the weekend.
Yoga Therapist Sam Pullen, who will guide us in a sound journey.
Becky Bullard of Democrasexy, who will guide us in connecting with chosen ancestors.
Cecily Sailer is your host and guide at The Playground, the one who crafted this weekend in service to your creative restoration! Cecily is the founder of Typewriter Tarot, which offers support, guidance, inspiration, and community to humans seeking a more holistic relationship with Creativity and a deeper relationship with magic and mysticism. Cecily is a Tarot reader, writer, and creativity coach. She’s the author of Tarot for Creative Spirits and host of the podcast Your Creative & Magical Life.
Sam Pullen is a nervous system coach and certified yoga therapist who specializes in helping individuals and groups navigate the challenges of stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression. In her work, Sam creates safe, nurturing spaces to explore asanas, discover the power of breathwork, find stillness in meditation, and embrace the soothing tones of sound therapy and guided meditation. Sam’s work has helped hundreds of people cultivate a more balanced relationship between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Becky Bullard is the goddess behind Democrasexy, which brings pleasure and play into the work and education of activism. After the 2016 presidential election, Becky realized she’d been leaving it to others to be the change. So she began a journey of listening, watching, and working with others, eventually leaving her work in corporate and nonprofit communications to nurture, support, and lead others in their own “civic mysticism.” Becky often communes with the cards to connect with social justice leaders of past generations and guide her work in response to the changing political climate.
Where We’ll Be…
Our creative headquarters for the weekend is
The Workshop @ 300 Allen Street in East Austin
Owned by local couple Heather and Marshall Lyles, The Workshop offers space for creative refuge and play. Marshall is a long-time therapist who trains other mental health professionals in various modalities, including sand-tray therapy. The Workshop is Marshall’s teaching space but also a community space for other practitioners. The Workshop is spacious, open, and bright, with different areas to convene and connect — a classroom space, lounging area, a small kitchen, and a creative space filled with art supplies and sand tray materials.
